Axis Powers and the Tripartite Pact

- Franklin Roosevelt

I have just received news of the Tripartite Pact. This is a deal signed by Japan, Italy and Germany in an axis allegiance. They have agreed to defend each other if any are to be attacked, and most importantly it is an agreement to take over most of the eastern hemisphere. Italy wants to rule the Mediterranean area, Japan wants to rule East Asia and Germany wants to rule the continental Europe (Axis).

This is a way to prevent us, the United States of America out of the war. And if we try to work our way in, we will have difficulties with multiple fronts (Tripartite). I wish to help Britain with “all aid short of war” (Book). We will send over 500,000 rifles and 80,000 machine guns to help them fight this war.
